Jessica Chastain, Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton have joined the cast of an upcoming adaptation of August Strindberg's play Miss Julie.

The naturalistic play was written in 1888 and is set on a night in 1874 at the estate of a Count in Sweden. Miss Julie, the daughter of the Count, explores the social world of her servants and is drawn to one named Jean. Jessica Chastain is playing the lead role as Julie with Colin Farrell portraying Jean. Samantha Morton will take on the role of one of the house cooks, Christine.

Liv Ullmann is directing with Oliver Dungey and Teun Hilte attached to produce.

Jessica Chastain most recently starred as Maya in Kathryn Bigelow's Zero Dark Thirty, which she won a Golden Globe for.
