Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain is in final talks to join the cast of Crimson Peak for Legendary Entertainment and director Guillermo del Toro.

Plot details are thin, but the filmmaker revealed in February that the story takes place in the early 1900s, with half of the movie set in America and the rest in a decaying mansion in Cumbria. The director also described the movie as a ghost story and a gothic romance. No details were given regarding Jessica Chastain's character, but she joins a cast that includes Emma Stone, Charlie Hunnam, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who signed on to the project yesterday.

Guillermo del Toro is directing from a screenplay he is co-writing with British playwright Lucinda Clarkson. Production is scheduled to begin in February 2014.

The project marks a return to the horror genre for Jessica Chastain, who starred in Universal Pictures' thriller Mama earlier this year.
