It doesn’t take too much to get Marvel fans speculating about what could be going on in the MCU’s near future. When it comes to former Netflix shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones, it takes even less. Recently Disney sparked interest in Jessica Jones by changing the title plate image for the show to A.K.A. Jessica Jones, a small change but one that seems not worth doing unless there was something being planned for Krysten Ritter’s superhero private investigator. Now along with reports that Daredevil stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are to return as Matt Murdock and Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk in the upcoming Echo series, there is a rumor that one of the storylines of the series will also bring Jessica Jones into the MCU.

According to the YouTube channel The Weekly Planet, Echo will include Matt Murdock searching for Jessica Jones for reasons currently unknown. While every Marvel rumor is just that until it is confirmed by Kevin Feige and his team, this one does seem to fit with numerous other small updates and whispers around Ritter’s character, some of which have come from the actress herself.

Ritter has managed to stir interest in the possible return of Jessica Jones a number of times thanks to photos shared on her Instagram account. Whether it has been photos of the actress sporting hairstyles that look very much like that of her Marvel character, pictures taken near locations Marvel has been well known to film in or teasing reunions with former Defenders stars with photos of herself with Luke Cage star Mike Colter, Ritter has certainly been stoking the fires a little too much for there not be a plan for Jessica Jones to make an MCU appearance. Add in the recent change to the series name and logo, along with Ritter posting the Jessica Jones poster last week, and everything is pointing to Jones’ imminent arrival.

Over the years Marvel Studios has slowly been regaining control over some of those characters that have appeared in movies and shows from studios other than Disney. Thanks to the merger with Fox, the Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Deadpool are all now set for MCU appearances, and with the shutting down of Netflix’s Marvel Television arm, the stars of The Defenders Saga seem almost certain to drop into the Marvel Cinematic Universe sooner or later.

When it comes to Jessica Jones, the fan-favorite would be welcomed by Marvel fans, and Ritter has been happy to say that she would return to the role “in a flash.” She previously told ScreenRant:

"I would absolutely just die to play Jessica again. I had the best time doing it and I just love her so much. I'm so proud of that character. Not only because it was like a great role and she's such a badass, but that character has really resonated with people in a way that I don't know who else has. Really, really resonated with women and girls, trauma survivors. It's just so, so big and such a thing I'm so grateful to have been a part of. So if there's ever an opportunity for me to put on those boots, I will be there in a flash."
