Lionsgate has attached Korean director Ji-woon Kim (The Good, the Bad, the Weird) to direct Last Stand, which was on the 2009 Black List. The project marks the director's American cinema debut, reports Latino Review.

Written by Andrew Knauer, the story is described in the vein of Gone in 60 Seconds and High Noon, and features a Gumpert Apollo, a 200 mph race car used by drug smugglers.

Last Stand centers on a cartel leader that uses it to break out of a courthouse. As he speeds to the Mexican border, the only thing standing in his way is a border-town sheriff and his inexperienced staff.

The movie is scheduled to go into production in the spring of 2011.
