One of these days, Marvel Studios will have a cast in place for its Phase II ensemble Guardians of the Galaxy. Until then, we can only tell you who is being considered for these coveted roles. Today, a new report indicates that Marvel is seeking comedians Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler. It isn't clear what roles they are being eyed for.

Actors Wes Bentley, Cam Gigandet, and Chris Lowell have also recently tested for the Peter Quill (a.k.a. Star-Lord) role in this superhero adventure. Last month, we reported that Jim Sturgess and Zachary Levi were the finalists for the Star-Lord lead role. Since then, though, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Rosenbaum tested for the part, and with these three new candidates, it remains to be seen as to who is now indeed the front runner.

James Gunn is directing from his own screenplay. We reported earlier this month that production will begin this summer at London's Shepperton Studios.
