According to Variety, director Jim Sheridan will be making a film based on script he co-wrote with Nye Heron about FBI informant Whitey Bulger.

The screenplay is based on the book Black Mass: The True Story of an Unholy Alliance Between the FBI and the Irish Mob which was written by Pulitzer Prize-winning Boston Globe reporters Dick Lehr and Gerard O'Neill.

The film looks at Bulger as an enforcer in the Winter Hill Gang. They sold narcotics and even gave weapons to the Irish Republican Army. Bulger hasn't been seen in 14 years.

"This is a story of a corrupt system and about how an angry guy became the second most wanted man after Bin Laden," Sheridan stated.
