Jim Sturgess has signed on to star alongside Kate Beckinsale in Eliza Graves, which is loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's 1845 short story The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fethe.

The story centers on a recent Harvard Medical School graduate (Jim Sturgess) who lands a job as an intern at a mental institute. He becomes obsessed with the title character (Kate Beckinsale), although he doesn't know that the hospital has been overrun by the patients, who are now posing as doctors.

Brad Anderson (The Call) is directing from a screenplay by Joe Gangemi (Wind Chill). Mel Gibson, Oren Peli, Bruce Davey, Mark Amin, and Cami Winikoff are producing along with Millennium/Nu Image Entertainment. Production is scheduled to start June 21 in Bulgaria.

Jim Sturgess most recently starred in Cloud Atlas and the indie Upside Down, which is currently playing in limited release.
