Late comedian Bob Saget was a frequent guest on many late night talk shows, and Jimmy Kimmel took some time in his latest show to pay tribute. Over the weekend, it was reported that Saget passed away shortly after performing at a comedy show to a packed audience in Orlando. Saget was very active with no indications of any apparent health problems, and his death came as a tremendous shock.

“Bob was the sweetest. He was the sweetest man,” Kimmel said in his opening monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “I have so many wonderfully kind and supportive texts and emails and calls from Bob. He always had a compliment. He’d write sometimes just to tell me he loved me and I know he did that for many people… He had something funny to say about everything and nothing bad to say about anyone. Never.”

Kimmel also spoke about Saget's tireless crusade to find the cure for scleroderma, an autoimmune disease that took the life of his sister Gay in 1993. Along with directing the 1996 film For Hope in honor of his late sister, Saget became a board member of the Scleroderma Research Foundation. The comedian had spent many years participating in fundraising efforts to help others with the fight against the disease. Kimmel guided viewers to the official website for the SCF to make a pledge in Saget's memory.

Appreciating the support he had always received from Saget, Kimmel added: “When my son was in the hospital, Bob checked in a lot. I want to send love to his daughters, to his wife Kelly and to his friends who loved him so much. He was very kind to everyone and he had no problem telling you that he loved you and what you meant to him.”

Jimmy Kimmel is one of many feeling the pain of losing Saget, a friend to so many others in the world of comedy. Both of his successors at America's Funniest Home Videos have also paid tribute. Current host Alfonso Ribeiro said he was "deeply saddened by the passing of my friend and fellow AFV host." Now-retired host Tom Bergeron posted a video from when Saget appeared on Bergeron's final episode of AFV for them to both ride off into the sunset on a golf cart.

"For my final AFV, I asked my friend for a special favor. Without hesitation he said yes," Bergeron said on Instagram. "I’ll always be grateful for that. And for our friendship."

"Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family," John Stamos posted to Instagram, speaking on behalf of the Full House family. "Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob... He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob."

It's clear more than ever just how loved Bob Saget is and he will be missed by many. Rest in peace.
