The world is about to get a lot more Joe Bob Briggs. Shudder has announced that they're bringing the former MonsterVision great back for two holiday specials this year and then a new series in 2019. Briggs signed up to do The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs this past summer on Shudder, which was a 24-hour marathon of 13 films. The demand was so great that it crashed Shudder's servers and led to the two holiday specials and a new series, which will be officially announced early next year.

The iconic horror host is preparing The Dinners of Death on Thursday, November 2nd and A Very Joe Bob Christmas on Friday, December 21st. Both specials will be marathons with hand-picked movies by Joe Bob Briggs and will attempt to be streamed live again by Shudder. Hopefully they don't underestimate the powers of Briggs this time around and have invested in some extra server power to handle all of the excitement this holiday season. Shudder general manager Craig Engler had this to say about bringing Briggs back.

"The response to our first marathon was overwhelming, and we can't think of a better gift for our members than to bring Joe Bob back for the holidays. We've been hard at work with Joe Bob and his team to make these new marathons unforgettable events, and we have even bigger plans for 2019."

This is huge news for fans of Joe Bob Briggs and his unique style of reviewing films. The July marathon had horror fans and critics praising the return of Briggs and left many wanting more. Thankfully, Briggs and Shudder know that they're on to something special and are giving us some early Christmas gifts this year. Briggs promises that the new marathons will bring something unique to the holidays. He explains.

"In November we're turning Black Friday into Red Thursday with the best deadly-dinner movies in history, and in December we have a very special way to fill that void felt by American households ever since ABC stopped airing the Nestor the Long-Eared Christmas Donkey Claymation special."

While the news of the two marathons is awesome enough on its own, it's the new Joe Bob Briggs series that will surely have fans cracking Lone Stars and raising them into the air. The show is currently in development, which is all we really need to hear at this point. More details will arrive after The Dinners of Death and A Very Joe Bob Christmas events at the end of this year. Let's hope that we're getting another version of Drive-In Theater or MonsterVision.

Joe Bob Briggs made his debut with Drive-In Theater, a late-night B-movie show on TMC in 1986. The show was well-received and Briggs did it until 1996 and then started MonsterVision, which ran for another four years. In the years since, Briggs has remained an active speaker and writer, and contributed to several DVD commentary tracks. However, it was this summer's Shudder marathon that brought him back into the lives of horror fans from all over the world.
