Actor Joel Kinnaman is in negotiations to reunite with director Daniel Espinosa for the upcoming thriller Child 44. The two have worked together on the international hit Easy Money (a.k.a. Snabba Cash) and last year's action-thriller Safe House.
The story is set in 1950s Russia, centering on a Soviet military police officer (Tom Hardy) who becomes the target of his suspicious government while investigating a string of child murders. Joel Kinnaman will play the killer responsible for these brutal deaths. Noomi Rapace also stars as the wife of Tom Hardy's character.
Daniel Espinosa is directing from a screenplay by Richard Price, adapted from the Tom Rob Smith novel of the same name. Production will begin sometime this summer.
Joel Kinnaman will next be seen in the sci-fi reboot RoboCop as Alex Murphy, and he recently signed on to star in Run All Night alongside Liam Neeson. He will also reprise his role as Stephen Holder on the AMC drama series The Killing, which goes back into production later this year.
