Actor John Goodman has joined the cast of Inside Llewyn Davis for StudioCanal and directors Joel Coen and Ethan Coen. It isn't known what role John Goodman will play.

The story is loosely based on the life of New York folk singer Dave van Ronk, who was a Greenwich Village staple in the 1960s. Oscar Isaac will star as the title character, and Carey Mulligan has also been cast. We reported last night that Justin Timberlake has been offered the role of Jim, a folk singer married to Carey Mulligan's character, Jean.

Joel Coen and Ethan Coen are directing Inside Llewyn Davis from their own script, which is partially based on Dave van Ronk's memoir, The Mayor of MacDougal Street.

It isn't known when production may begin on Inside Llewyn Davis.
