It seems that a much-maligned production is finally back on track. According to Variety, John Goodman and Constantin Film have settled their legal matter and Goodman will return to the set of Pope Joan. A new addition in David Weinham (300) will join the cast as well.

The story revolves around a 9th century legend of a woman who rose all the way up to the Vatican, disguised as a man. The film is based off the 1997 book by Donna Woolfolk Cross.

Constantin filed a $3 million lawsuit against the actor last year, after his hasty departure from the film, but now the two parties have settled, although the terms weren't disclosed. Aside from that setback, production was also delayed when Constantin fired original director Volker Schloendorff.

Pope Joan is now set to start shooting next month in Germany and Morocco.
