Actor John Goodman has joined the growing cast of Flight for Paramount Pictures and director Robert Zemeckis.

The story centers on Denzel Washington's character, a commercial airline pilot who heroically rescues his passengers after a near-tragic accident. He comes under fire in the investigation that follows, when his history of drug addiction surfaces. John Goodman will play a friend of the pilot, who tries to help him on the road to recovery. Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, and Brian Geraghty also star in Flight.

Robert Zemeckis is directing Flight from a screenplay by John Gatins (Real Steel). It isn't known when production will begin on Flight.

Flight is director Robert Zemeckis' first live-action movie since Cast Away in 2000.
