Monster's Ball co-stars Billy Bob Thornton and Halle Berry are once again teaming up for Tulia. According to Variety, John Singleton is directing this legal drama.

An adaptation of Nate Blakeslee's book Tulia: Race, Cocaine, and Corruption in a Small Texas Town, the Lionsgate film follows a lawyer who tries to expose a rash of drug convictions in Tulia, Texas back in 1999. More than ten percent of the town's black population was incarcerated in the sting operation.

The case was denounced as racial profiling, as no real evidence ever turned up. The undercover agent who conducted the bust was indicted on perjury charges; Texas Gov. Rick Perry eventually pardoned most of the 46 arrestees.

The film is scheduled to go into production late this fall.
