The breath-taking actor that is Keanu Reeves has teased the skill involved in the opening sequence of his upcoming action sequel, John Wick: Chapter 4, with the actor revealing that the unstoppable assassin will once again ride a horse. Though the actor admits the sequence may not end up as the opening of the highly anticipated action flick, Reeves hopes that the fourth John Wick will begin with him atop a galloping horse out in the desert.

“There’s a sequence—hopefully, knock on wood, in John Wick 4, the opening sequence. John Wick is back in the desert on a horse. I’m going to hopefully be able to fast-gallop and run.”

While Keanu Reeves has ridden horses in the name of our entertainment before, the actor revealed that all of his previous experience was still not enough for what’s to come in John Wick 4, which required Reeves to undergo further training, paying particular attention to galloping. “Ish. That’s why I’m going to training,” Reeves replied when asked about his readiness for the scene, something which he had to thoroughly prepare for before shooting. Reeves’ dedication to learning the techniques necessary to best sell the unmatched skills of John Wick are well-known, and no doubt the actor will look like an accomplished equestrian by the time to movie hits the big screen.

John Wick certainly has some experience with horses, cleverly using one as a weapon before riding it in order to fight against several would-be hitmen on motorcycles in one of the more gripping sequences in previous installment John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. The legendary Baba Yaga has also spent some time in the desert in the past, again in the third outing, during which he wanders in the hope of gaining forgiveness from the mysterious man known as the Elder. Could another meeting with the Elder be on the cards in John Wick: Chapter 4 as Reeves’ hitman wages war against the high table?

While the official John Wick: Chapter 4 title has seemingly been revealed as Hagakure, not too much information has since been released regarding the direction of the movie. The events are expected to follow John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which found Wick going on the run from a legion of assassins after a bounty is placed for his murder. In the movie’s final moments, John Wick joins forces with Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King, with the pair declaring war against the High Table.

John Wick: Chapter 4 will also add martial arts legend Donnie Yen to proceedings, with the Rogue One and Ip Man star being described as an "old friend of Keanu Reeves' super-assassin John Wick, who shares his same history and many of the same enemies." Directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad, Shay Hatten, Chris Collins, and Marc Abrams, and starring Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, Scott Adkins, Hiroyuki Sanada, Clancy Brown, and Ian McShane alongside Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Donnie Yen, John Wick: Chapter 4 is scheduled to be released on May 27, 2022, by Lionsgate.
