John Wick 4 is preparing for a massive success. Keanu Reeves is back as the popular assassin in a new chapter of the most successful action saga in recent years, and it seems impossible to lower him from the throne. Before its official release, the film was already breaking records, and after its first weekend in theaters, it only got better.

Before being released, the film had already surpassed the previous ones, not only for being the longest in the entire franchise but also for becoming the best-rated on Rotten Tomatoes, where it debuted with no less than 95%, with critics hailing the shocking action scenes.

Now that John Wick 4 is out in theaters, Variety reports that the film continues to surprise the fans and the industry. The film established itself as the best opening in the entire saga, with $73.5 million at the domestic box office and $137.5 globally.

The original John Wick opened with $14 million in 2014; its sequel John Wick: Chapter 2, duplicated that number with $30.4 million, and the third film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, previously held the opening weekend record with $56.8 million.

The second place at the box office is for Shazam! Fury of the Gods, with only $9.7 million, is a franchise exception, considering that Scream 6 and Creed III managed to break their sagas records as John Wick did.

Hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves) has returned from the underworld to carry out his revenge, taking him to places like New York, Berlin, Paris, and Osaka. He must escape the ruthless boss of the underworld Marquis de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård), who has willing minions all over the planet.

In addition to these new allies, he will have the vital help of his old friend Caine (Donnie Yen).
