It is already an unwritten fact of life that Keanu Reeves is someone who can manage to get on with everyone he works with, and Rina Sawayama has become the latest of Reeves’ co-stars to praise the actor for his “down to earth” way when working on set. Sawayama stars alongside Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, and although her role is currently unknown, the actress had to undergo some intensive training to prepare herself for the physical requirements of the role.

John Wick: Chapter 4 will continue the story of Reeves’ Wick in the events directly after John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. This means that Wick has now agreed to join forces with the Bowery King, played by Laurence Fishburne, as they plot against the High Table. With plenty more fights to come, it can only be assumed that there will be more of the franchise’s beautifully choreographed fight sequences that require the actors to be at the top of their game. While speaking with Metro, Sawayama explained how Reeves was always there on set to help her and encourage her throughout the shoot. She said:

"Keanu just has such an ordinariness about him – he’s really down to earth, he’s someone who is so chilled and lovely – just great to hang out with like he’s a family member. My favorite memory is looking over to him while we were both training in the same gym and being like, “F**k!” That was one of my faves – [training] was just so brutal! I loved sharing that moment with him – we were both like, “This is horrible.” But I can’t compare to what he’s done – he’s in the whole movie and I am in a portion of the movie. I don’t know how he does it – he does all his own stunts!"

While there had been plans to film John Wick 4 and John Wick 5 together, the Covid pandemic caused a number of changes to be made to the plans for Keanu Reeves hitman movies. There is still a fifth movie expected to follow next year’s film, but director Chad Stahelski has noted that as well as continuing Wick’s story, the film closes off some points of the plot. He previously said:

"I think Chapter 4 is a good continuation of all three previous films, and it's got a bit of a conclusion to it, which is great,” the filmmaker and former stuntman said previously. “We introduce a ton of new characters that have a lot to say about John Wick from his past and from, obviously, present. I think it's brotherhood, it's hope. It's what the life would really be like as a bit of an existential crisis with John, and I think that's the fun part of the movie."

With a number of spin-offs already in production, there is still a lot to come from the John Wick franchise beyond the movies, including the TV event series The Continental. John Wick: Chapter 4 is set to arrive in cinemas on March 24, 2023.
