Legendary composer John Williams has debuted a new theme from Indiana Jones 5. Despite the highly anticipated sequel not being due for release until June next year. Williams unveiled the theme during his Maestro of the Movies concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles (via cinematographer Chuck Ozeas), with the piece of music titled "Helena's Theme," referring to the character set to be portrayed by Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

"Jim said, 'Why don't you play it at the Bowl next week?'" Williams said to the audience during the event. "I said, 'Jim! The picture's not coming out until next year!'" However, Mangold insisted saying, "That doesn't matter. Play it at the Bowl anyway."

Alongside the theme, we now have our first details regarding Waller-Bridge's character. Named Helena, Williams described her as and "adventuress" and “a femme fatale," before revealing that she will be action-oriented. Something that he wanted to reflect in her theme song.

"She's also a femme fatale. She's many, many things," Williams explained. "She has a kind of lyrical music like an old movie star, which she looks like, except she's young and beautiful and wonderful."

"Here is 'Helena's Theme,'" the composer concluded. "Like six months too early."

While not much is yet known about the direction of Indiana Jones 5, rumors have claimed that the movie will serve as a conclusion to the adventures of Harrison Ford's intrepid archeologist and will set up Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the new face of the franchise going forward. "Insiders claim Kathleen Kennedy, the Hollywood producer behind the franchise, is keen to make 'big, bold' changes - with few bigger than switching the lead character to a woman," reports have claimed, with another source adding, "It would be a huge statement, and a great role for Phoebe."

Though this is just a rumor at present, it certainly sounds like Phoebe Waller-Bridge will play a major role in proceedings when Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters in 2023.

The man behind such iconic themes as Star Wars, Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter, John Williams has hinted that Indiana Jones 5 could be his final film score, with the now 90-year-old composer revealing that he may follow in the footsteps of Harrison Ford, who plans to leave the franchise behind following the upcoming sequel.

"At the moment I'm working on 'Indiana Jones 5,' which Harrison Ford — who's quite a bit younger than I am — I think has announced will be his last film. So, I thought: If Harrison can do it, then perhaps I can, also," Williams said.

Directed by James Mangold, with a script co-written by Mangold, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth, Indiana Jones 5 stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Toby Jones, and Antonio Banderas.

Indiana Jones 5 is scheduled for release on June 30, 2023, following several delays caused by production setbacks and the pandemic.
