Fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have never given up hope of seeing Johnny Depp stepping out on deck as Jack Sparrow one more time, and now they have had their wish granted. Unfortunately, it is not part of the constantly rumored Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Instead, it is a video message arranged by the Make-A-Wish Foundation that was sent to an 11-year-old fan, who shared the short video on his YouTube channel.

The video marks one of Depp’s first appearances since his high-profile court case with Amber Heard, the fall-out of which is still rumbling in the background. As one of the most iconic movie characters of all time, Depp brings Jack Sparrow back to life for the special message. In doing so, he reminds everyone why Disney would have an impossible task of replacing him at the head of the Pirates franchise.

In the video, Depp speaks directly to 11-year-old Kori, or "Captain Kori," as he refers to him, who has undergone multiple heart transplant surgeries and been in palliative care. Depp is in blazing form as he staggers and stumbles his way around his words with “Jack” trying to get to grips with using modern technology as a means of communication. In the video, he says:

“So, Capt. Kori, terribly sorry I missed out on this. Meant to say it, forgot to say it, didn't say it, gonna say it now. Saying it, I'll say it. I hear tell of something they speak about in the ages of now called the YouTube channel, which I don't understand, but why not?... I think it will make for a wonderful entertainment expertise momentary lapse of togetherness altogether in one space, but far apart, but then, at the same time, very close. Curious, enduring and strange."

“Jack” continues to wish Kori the best of luck and promises to “follow your YouTube channel,” as well as telling his friends to do the same. You can see the full video message below.

Will Johnny Depp Ever Officially Return As Jack Sparrow?

Johnny Depp’s place in Pirates of the Caribbean history is not in doubt, but whether he will ever return is a little less certain. Since the actor’s messy divorce and libel trials with Amber Heard, his position in Hollywood took a huge dive to the point the actor could not find any roles. While he has now lined up a small number of appearances, his return to a franchise as big as Pirates of the Caribbean is something that still seems a long way off.

However, the video shared by 11-year-old Kori shows exactly how loved and admired Depp still is, and his ability to slip back into the character of Jack Sparrow for charitable purposes is a testament to Depp as an actor and a person. For someone like Kori, a message like this can make a lot of difference to those whose lives have been hugely impacted by life-changing illnesses. If for no reason other than that, Disney should allow Depp to continue playing Jack Sparrow or retire the Pirates franchise entirely. Either way, it seems that Depp will still bring out Captain Jack when called upon.
