When the Roseanne television show came to an end in 1997, it confused longtime fans of the hit show. The Conner's were rich, the ghost of Jerry Garcia made in appearance, and John Goodman's Dan Conner had apparently died from a heart attack at the end of the previous season. So to say that there were a lot of questions when the revival of Roseanne was announced would be a severe understatement. Will Dan be alive? Is Little Kenny G (Johnny Galecki) returning? Which Becky will be used?

ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey provided answers to some of those questions while talking to the Television Critics Association this morning. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Dungey confirmed that Roseanne will be back in 2018 while also mentioning that the revival will address the events of the final episode and whether Dan Conner will be alive. She explained.

"I don't want to talk too specifically, but I wouldn't say we'll ignore the events of the finale. Dan is definitely still alive."

The revival series could have chosen to ignore the death of John Goodman's Dan Conner character, but it appears as if they are going to tackle the events of the last season unlike the return of Will and Grace, which will ignore how that series ended when the hit show returns.

It was also announced that Johnny Galecki is still currently in talks to join the rest of the cast for the Roseanne revival series. It had previously been assumed that the Big Bang Theory star was on board, but apparently he has not officially joined the cast just yet. Dungey said, "Those conversations are still in progress," when she was asked about Galecki's return.

Although we know that the show will take place in today's political climate, no specific plot details have been announced and it is not sure how they will exactly address the death of Dan Conner, but star Roseanne Barr did offer a blog post in 2009 that imagined where the Connor family would be at that time. The blog post did bring back Dan after faking his death, most of the ideas seemed as if Roseanne was having fun, riffing ideas of the top of her head for her own enjoyment. Despite rumors, Roseanne Barr has spoken out saying that the show will not be about the President of the United States and insisted that the show is about a Midwestern family.

After the Television Critics Association session, Dungey told reporters that the Roseanne revival is expected to begin taping in October in front of a live studio audience. Shortly after the announcement was made, ABC released a Roseanne trailer that focused on archival footage from over the years with no new footage shown at all. ABC has ordered eight episodes of the Roseanne revival, which is set to debut at some time in the mid season of 2018. No official release date has been set, but news expected to be announced shortly.
