Mark Hamill is very well known for playing the role of Star Wars fan favorite Luke Skywalker for over 40 years, but it's another iconic portrayal from his career that means the most to the legendary actor.

In a recent post on Twitter, Hamill opened up about his time playing the Joker in a variety of Batman projects, suggesting this role is the one he appreciates most of all from his entire filmography. Along with some photos of his version of the Joker, Hamill had this to say about providing the voice of the Clown Prince of Crime.

"I can't tell you how much 1 single role has meant to me. Because of him people recognized the gleeful psycho within-Because of him a new career of megalomaniacal villainy opened up & I was now able to frighten young children-I will be grateful for that...Forever. #BeingTheJoker"

In addition to his work on the big screen, Hamill has proven himself as a very formidable voice actor. He has voiced roles for many cartoon shows like the '90s Spider-Man animated series, The New Woody Woodpecker Show, and Phantom 2040. More recently, he lent his voice to the new Chucky in this year's Child's Play reboot, and although the movie drew some mixed opinions from viewers, most appreciated Hamill's new take on the classic horror character. There's no shortage of roles Hamill has voiced during his career, though it's now clear which one is his all-time favorite - and many fans would likely agree.

Hamill first started voicing the Joker in 1992, working alongside Kevin Conroy as Batman in the classic cartoon show Batman: The Animated Series. His voice portrayal quickly became synonymous with the character, and Hamill would reprise the role for many other animated Batman movies and shows in the following years. He also voices the Joker in several hit video games, including the critically-acclaimed title Batman: Arkham Asylum and its multiple sequels. Hamill continues to periodically play the role, voicing the Joker for a special appearance in an episode of Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? earlier this year.

It obviously means a lot for Hamill to refer to the Joker as the one role that's meant more to him than any other. Many of us certainly know the actor best for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, a part which he can currently be seen portraying one last time in The Rise of Skywalker. For many Star Wars fans, Luke will always be their most favorite of all of Hamill's roles. Still, for Hamill himself, it appears that playing the Clown Prince of Crime is at the very top of his list of his most cherished performances. Of course, that also explains why he's voiced him so many times over the years.

You can catch Hamill in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, now playing in theaters everywhere. Even if Luke Skywalker isn't quite as meaningful for Hamill as the Joker, he's certainly got to be up there as a close second. You can take a look at Hamill's tweet about playing the Joker below.
