Actress Zazie Beetz revealed that the Joker script was constantly being rewritten while filming was underway. Production wrapped on the movie back in December and even though we've seen plenty of set pictures and videos from leaks, Tod Phillips' story is still very much a mystery. Joaquin Phoenix remained quiet during his time as the Clown Prince of Crime and has only really talked about the movie right before filming started, and even then, that was brief and he didn't shed too much light on what DC fans can expect.

In a recent interview, Zazie Beetz was asked about working on the Joker movie. As to be expected, she couldn't divulge any specific details, but she did offer up some pretty interesting intel about the making of the movie. As it turns out, it looks like making the movie might have been a little frustrating. Beetz had this to say.

"I can't say anything. It's gritty and dark. I mean, I haven't seen a cut or anything. Gotham. (laughs) The script was great, we rewrote the whole thing while we were shooting it. Literally, we would go into (director/co-writer Todd Phillips') trailer and write the scene for the night and then do it... During hair and makeup we'd memorize those lines and then do them, and then we'd reshoot that three weeks later. We had to do everything then because Joaquin (Phoenix) had lost so much weight. We couldn't do reshoots later on, so we were figuring it out."

From what it sounds like, Joker won't be undergoing any reshoots due to the amount of weight that Joaquin Phoenix lost while making the movie. Instead of reshoots taking place at a later date like most projects, it appears that director/co-writer Todd Phillips was able to conduct reshoots while they were completing principal photography, which is pretty impressive. However, that also sounds like a pretty taxing situation to be in for the cast and crew.

Joaquin Phoenix played coy for a long time before it was revealed that he had signed on to officially play the Joker in the movie. We know that it's going to take place outside of the DCEU, which is something that many of DC movies are starting to do. With that being said, Phoenix's words of calling the movie a dark character study have been echoed many times, leading to questions as to what kind of comic book movie we are going to see.

While we don't know story specifics for the Joker movie, it is evident that Joaquin Phoenix looks incredible as the Clown Prince of Crime. There have been numerous leaked photos and set videos to hit the net over the past handful of months, and Phoenix throws a completely new vibe to the character that we have yet to see on the big or small screen. Hopefully Warner Bros. releases a teaser in the coming weeks so we can truly get some insight into what Phoenix pulled off.
