After seven seasons, Jon Hamm finally took home the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his beloved portrayal of Don Draper on AMC's Mad Men, with the show ending earlier this year. As it turns out, the actor isn't quite done with the advertising world, with People reporting that he has signed on for a guest voice role on Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants. Take a look at the official description of his new character, which will seem quite familiar to fans of Mad Men.
"He will play the role of Don Grouper - a charismatic head ad executive of the ad agency Grouper, Goby & Koi. His sharp mind and devastating charm make him an irresistible force. When Don's in the room everyone laps up his words like overpriced organic honey. In the episode, Mr. Krabs goes to Don for help as Mr. Krabs tries to launch his line of frozen Krabby Patties."
No further details were given for this particular episode, which is slated to debut sometime in 2016. The SpongeBob SquarePants TV show and the movies the show is based on have often spoofed hit movies and TV shows. Their latest movie, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which debuted earlier this year, released a number of posters that spoofed movies Fifty Shades of Grey, Jurassic World and Terminator Genisys. SpongeBob SquarePants currently airs on Friday nights at 7:30 PM ET on Nickelodeon.
Jon Hamm is no stranger to voice over work, lending his voice to The Simpsons, Robot Chicken, Family Guy, Archer, and the animated blockbuster movie Minions, which has earned over $1 billion worldwide.
