Josh Brolin is set to star and direct an adaptation of Dominique Cieri's acclaimed play Pitz & Joe, reports MTV.

Writer Maya Forbes is working on the screenplay for the Warner Bros. project.

Pitz & Joe is described as "a two-character drama about a young woman and her brain-damaged brother." The story takes place five years after the accident, as the two siblings - one of them a divorced painter, the other a former junkie who was left severely brain-damaged following a motorcycle crash - work together towards the brother's recovery.

Although the story takes place five years following the crash, the characters' relationships with one another are explored in greater detail through the use of flashbacks.

No production date has been set.
