The Blades of Glory directing duo Josh Gordon and Will Speck are in final negotiations to direct Columbia Pictures' artificial insemination comedy Baster.

Based on a short story by "Middlesex" author Jeffrey Eugenides, the comedy centers on a 40-year-old unmarried woman who decides to become pregnant by inseminating herself using a turkey baster and sperm from a married friend, according to Variety.

Allan Loeb (Things We Lost in the Fire) penned the screenplay.

"We were so attracted to this project because of Allen's script," Speck said. "Because he works in every genre -- comedy, drama -- he really understands character arcs."
