Josh Lucas is set to star in the untitled thriller, inspired by the Bernard-Henri Levy book Who Killed Daniel Pearl for Beacon Pictures.

The book follows Pearl's daring journey into Pakistan to investigate the kidnapping and murder of the Wall Street Journal correspondent, says Variety. Pearl may have uncovered complicity between the Pakistani secret service and Al Qaeda.

Peter Landesman, New York Times Magazine foreign correspondent, is writing the script; he's fictionalized the Pearl character because Beacon did not want to infringe on a film project based on a book by the journalist's widow, Marianne Pearl.

Kip Williams (The Door in the Floor) has agreed to direct the untitled thriller that will begin production this fall.
