Juan José Campanella, who directed last year's Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language Film The Secret in Their Eyes, is moving to animation with his latest project entitled Metegol, according to Variety.

The movie, which translates to English as Foosball, centers on a character who has to face a soccer pro in order to save his village. He is aided by figures on a foosball table that come to life. Juan José Campanella will direct and produce through his 100 Bares banner and the Buenos Aires-based Catmandu. Spain's Plural-Jempsa will also lend a hand with the production.

Metegol is slated for release sometime in 2012. The site reports that local Argentine actors such as Pablo Rago, Fabián Gianola, Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, Horacio Fontova, David Masajnik are being hired for unspecified voice roles.
