While we await any official word on a sequel or prequel to Dredd 3D, producer Adi Shankar has rewarded fans for their loyalty with a new spin-off mini-series entitled Judge Dredd: Superfiend, with the first teaser trailer debuting today. The full trailer will debut Thursday, October 23, with the series itself debuting Monday, October 27 on Machinima.

Judge Dredd: Superfiend is inspired by the "Dark Judges" story line from the original 2000 AD comic books. The Dark Judges include Judge Death, Judge Fire, Judge Fear and Judge Mortis, who frequently clashed with Dredd and Cassandra Anderson in the comic book. It seems unlikely that Dredd 3D stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby will return to voice Dredd and Cassandra Anderson, since their names were not included in the first poster that was released yesterday.

The mini-series is also a part of Adi Shankar's Bootleg Universe, a series of short films that includes The Punsher: Dirty Laundry, where Thomas Jane reprised his title role from 2004's The Punisher, and the Venom film Truth in Journalism.

Check out the new footage from Judge Dredd: Superfiend, and stay tuned for the full trailer on Thursday.
