Production has begun on the star-studded Jumanji 2, with both Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart releasing the first photos through social media yesterday. The photo offered our first look at both of those stars in character as Dr. Bravestone and Moose Finbar, along with Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon and Karen Gillan as Ruby Roundhouse, which lead to several fans commenting on Karen Gillan's skimpy outfit, while all of her male co-stars are fully clothed. Today Karen Gillan fired back with her own message on social media.

Dwayne Johnson revealed in his Instagram post that Karen Gillan's "jungle wardrobe will make sense when you know the plot," although he wouldn't offer any plot specifics at this time. Still, the skimpy costume became quite the hot topic, which lead to Karen Gillan releasing her own brief statement on Twitter. Here's what she had to say below, which could offer a hint about the nature of her costume.

"Jumanji! Yes I'm wearing child sized clothes and YES there is a reason! The pay off is worth it, I promise! #Jumanji"

The original Jumanji, based on the classic book by Chris Van Allsburg, centers on a magical board game that unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter (Bradley Pierce) and Judy Shepherd (Kirsten Dunst). While exploring an old mansion, the youngsters find a curious, jungle-themed game called Jumanji in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who has been stuck in the game's inner world for decades, with the kids given a chance to free him if they can beat the game. Since Karen Gillan specifically said "child-sized" clothes, it's possible that she was stuck in the game as a child, and when she emerges as an adult, her "child-sized" clothes don't exactly fit now.

That is just a theory, but in the absence of an official plot synopsis, that's all we have to go on. Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that Jumanji 2 is not a reboot, and it will pay homage to the late Robin Williams' character, Dr. Alan Parish. Nick Jonas is also set to star, but no other cast members have been revealed quite yet. It isn't known how long filming will take place in Hawaii for, but Dwayne Johnson brought in a Hawaiian priest to bless the set last week.

Jake Kasdan is directing Jumanji 2 from a script that has been worked on by writers such as Zach Helm (Stranger Than Fiction), Chris McKenna (The LEGO Batman Movie), Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower), Scott Rosenberg (Gone In 60 Seconds) and Erik Sommers (Spider-Man: Homecoming). Jumanji 2 has been set for release on July 28, 2017, which puts it up against an untitled Disney fairy tale project. While we wait for more set photos as production continues on Jumanji 2, take a look at Karen Gillan's Twitter message about her outfit.
