Alright, Dino enthusiasts, it's official: Jurassic World 3 is hitting theaters in the summer of 2021. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hasn't even premiered and we already have a release date for the third installment in the new trilogy that started with 2015's Jurassic World. While the second movie in the trilogy has yet to be released, the new footage shown in trailers and TV spots has left some long-time fans with a bad taste in their mouths, claiming that new promotional spots give away too much of the movie, which is strange because nobody has actually seen it.

Universal Pictures has announced that Jurassic World 3 will be officially released on June 11th, 2021. Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow will return to executive produce the third installment for Universal and Amblin Entertainment. Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley will partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow again as well. Trevorrow will be joined to write the screenplay with Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising) from a story that Trevorrow co-wrote with Derak Connolly. Connolly and Colin Trevorrow also wrote Jurassic World and Jurassic World 2. Trevorrow had this to say about working with Emily Carmichael.

"It's important to this franchise that we welcome new creative voices to keep our storytelling fresh and alive. I'm thrilled with the tension and beauty J.A. has brought to Fallen Kingdom, and I know Emily will add another layer of emotion to the concluding chapter of our trilogy."

In a recent interview, Colin Trevorrow recalled talking to Steven Spielberg about the movies ending up as a trilogy. The writer/director reveals that he had the idea all along, with a concrete beginning, middle, and end. In the end, Trevorrow says that the trilogy was necessary to keep people interested in the franchise. He had this to say.

"I remember telling Steven even while we were making the first movie, this is the beginning. Here is the middle. And here's the end of the end. This is where we want to go. I feel like that kind of design is crucial to a franchise like this if you really want to bring people along with you and make sure they stay interested."

Chris Pratt returns as raptor wrangler Owen Grady alongside Bryce Dallas Howard's former park-runner Claire Dearing in Jurassic World 2, which Colin Trevorrow says will set the stage for Jurassic World 3. Jurassic World 2 opens on June 22nd and then it will be three more years before we see the conclusion of the new trilogy. There's a lot of competition at the box office this summer, but Jurassic World 2 is expected to be a huge success.

The release date of Jurassic World 3 follows the every three years that they've worked with since the first movie. June of 2021 will be here before we know it, and we still have Jurassic World 2 to look forward to this summer. We'll have to wait and see how the sequel sets up the events for the last movie, which could end as a cliff hanger. Jurassic World 3 opens on June 11th, 2021 and you can read more information about the release date and new co-writer Emily Carmichael over at Variety.
