Following a series of delays, highly anticipated sequel Jurassic World: Dominion slowly lumbers closer and closer towards the big screen, with the MPA now confirming that the movie has been officially rated PG-13. Much like all other entries in the franchise, the latest installment in the Jurassic Park-slash-Jurassic World franchise has been given the PG-13 rating thanks to "intense sequences of action, some violence, and language."

This should come as great news to fans of the Jurassic franchise, with the latest outing clearly determined to continue the same kind of dinosaur-related action that has made the series so popular. Jurassic World: Dominion is the third movie in the Jurassic World series, and the sixth in the Jurassic series overall, with the adventure set to merge the two by bringing back franchise heroes Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. Alan Grant, and Dr. Ellie Sattler into the prehistoric fray.

While plot details for Jurassic World: Dominion are currently under lock and key, with the last movie in the ongoing franchise, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, ending with several different species of dinosaur now let loose upon the world, it's likely that Jurassic World: Dominion will find Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcolm, Sam Neill's Dr. Alan Grant and Laura Dern's Dr. Ellie Sattler brought in to help stop the prehistoric beasts alongside Jurassic World's Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Specific details of how the three legacy characters will feature in the movie are being kept largely under wraps, but Jeff Goldblum has previously teased a life and death scenario for the trio. "The three of us were in a tiny little space and we were being menaced by - I can't even tell you - a surprising faction of prehistoric creatures that you've never seen before. We saw some amazing things. We were acting in a life and death situation. We think it might be the last moments of our lives and we're all bonding with each other in an emotional and somewhat hilarious way," Goldblum said.

The most we have seen from the movie so far comes courtesy of a recent 5-minute prologue, which “rockets audiences back 65 million years into the past to experience the world before humans existed,” before bringing us back into the present day. The footage teases the return of the legendary Tyrannosaurus Rex, whose visit to a local drive-thru cinema is ruined by humans with helicopters and guns.

The clip has since been praised by an expert in the field of dinos, Joe Bonsor from the Natural History Museum London, who said "This prologue feels a little bit different from the previous films. I'm really looking forward to seeing how they translate this footage, which has a bit more realism and some more recent discoveries, into those more modern dinosaurs from the film. It'll be interesting to see how they strike a balance between actual science and their creations.”

Directed by Colin Trevorrow, who wrote the screenplay with Emily Carmichael, Jurassic World: Dominion is scheduled for theatrical release on June 10, 2022. This comes to us courtesy of Film Ratings.
