Today marks a great day for those anticipating the upcoming release of Jurassic World: Dominion, as a five-minute sneak peek preview is now available to watch online. Entitled The Prologue, the teaser does not include actual footage of Dominion, instead serving as a standalone short set 65 million years in the past when the dinosaurs roamed the planet. It’s just a small taste of what’s to follow with the jurassic creatures on their way to reclaim Earth, and you can watch the video for yourself below.

Fast forwarding to the present day, the footage also shows the pursuit of a T-Rex who shows up while filmgoers attempt to enjoy a movie at a drive-in theater. While most patrons flee for their lives, others are too engrossed in the movie playing on screen, or perhaps the date they’d brought along with them, to notice the mayhem. Attempts to subdue the gigantic dinosaur fail as it manages to escape into the darkness of the night. The drive-in setup also serves as the backdrop for the new official poster.

Per Collider, director Colin Trevorrow previously said of the footage, “Ever since I was a kid, I have wanted to see dinosaurs in their natural habitat. It may have taken a few decades, but with a little help from ILM, Universal and Amblin, it has finally happened. This preview is just a glimpse of the film we’ve made. It’s an epic celebration of everything Steven Spielberg and Michael Crichton created, and I can’t wait to share it with the world. ... This sequence was made to be seen on the biggest screen possible. Luckily, IMAX theaters are back, and all over the world we’re returning to theaters because movies bring us closer together. I think we need that shared experience right now ... maybe more than we ever have.”

Trevorrow directs Jurassic World: Dominion which comes from a screenplay co-written with Emily Carmichael and a story by Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are producing with Alexandra Derbyshire executive producing with Trevorrow and Steven Spielberg. It stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum, as well as Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Daniella Pineda, Campbell Scott, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, DeWanda Wise, and BD Wong.

“It was very interesting to come back into a different world, and a lot of things have evolved, perhaps not to Alan’s liking,” Neill told Rotten Tomatoes of his return as Alan Grant. “And, again, there he is in tandem with Ellie Sattler, and – God almighty! – it’s Ian Malcolm again. So there are a lot of comic possibilities out of all that. Laura [Dern] and Jeff [Goldblum] are dear friends; I am very happy to be back in their company, which was much more substantive than any of us had imagined because we were effectively locked down for the duration, and we were very much dependent on each other’s company for laughs and for morale.

Of his new co-stars, Neill added, “And Chris and Bryce [Dallas Howard] are just great; Mamoudou [Athie], DeWanda [Wise], too. It was a really great bunch actually on that film, and I felt very fortunate to be there, particularly as so many of my friends and colleagues went completely off work last year, and in fact their whole careers and lives are in a powerless position. I was bloody lucky to be there. Very fortunate.”

Jurassic World: Dominion is set to be released in movie theaters on June 10, 2022.
