This weekend belongs to Jurassic World Dominion, as the hit sequel has scored a very impressive $143 million earned in the United States and Canada with its theatrical debut. Factoring in overseas ticket sales, the film has already pulled in a whopping $389 at the global box office. This is all despite a negative critical reception that had reviewers at Rotten Tomatoes slapping Dominion with a 30% rotten rating. But audiences were just happy to see giant dinos back on the big screen, as seen with its audience score of 79% along with the immense box office success.

Top Gun: Maverick falls into the No. 2 spot with Dominion taking over, but the film still continues to ring in its own profits with $50 million earned in its third weekend at theaters. That film opened up with $124 million domestically, marking Tom Cruise's highest domestic opening ever. It earned another $86 million in its second weekend as well which puts that film's domestic total up to $393.3 million earned; its worldwide total is at $747 million.

Another box office blockbuster is still pulling in millions to throw on its own mountain of cash with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness landing at No. 3. The superhero movie has garnered $4.8 million to bump up its domestic haul to $397 million, this with its sixth weekend in theaters. Also a global phenomenon, the sequel has now earned $930.2 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-drawing films of the pandemic era.
