Jurassic World 2 is coming up fast and Jeff Goldblum took some time out from promoting Isle of Dogs to discuss his return as Dr. Ian Malcolm and his love of science. The first Jurassic World movie came out over nearly 3 years ago and was a monster hit at the box office leaving plenty of optimism for a sequel. However, fans were shocked and excited to learn that Jeff Goldblum would be returning to play the open-shirt meme that is Dr. Ian Malcom.

Jeff Goldblum was last seen in the disappointing Jurassic Park sequel, The Lost World, which was hardly the proper place for his Dr. Ian Malcolm character. When recently asked about returning to the role, Goldblum talked about what he enjoyed about his character. Additionally, the actor talked about what we can expect from him when Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom hits theaters. Goldblum had this to say.

"I enjoyed getting a chance to dress up in black again and say a couple of things about science and being a proponent of science. The human curiosity and investigation and fact-based storehouse that we have is deeply valuable and must be esteemed and celebrated, but those who would use the animal kingdom and our scientific achievement and knowledge for profit or cheap entertainment or ticket sales or, heaven forbid, militaristic power or leverage, 'woe be to them.' So I liked getting another crack at that."

In another recent interview, Jeff Goldblum said that he wants to see the return of Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler in Jurassic World 2. The actor didn't confirm nor deny that she makes an appearance in the movie, but he stated that it would be "good news to him" if she did make a return. Goldblum is not alone on his wish. Jurassic Park fans have been clamoring for over a year to figure out if Laura Dern makes a return alongside Jeff Goldblum.

In other Jeff Goldblum news, while he's been talking a lot about Jurassic World 2 over the past several days, he also stars in Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs, which is now open in theaters. Goldblum voices the dog Duke, who along with his canine friends helps a boy trying to track down his lost dog. The actor talked about doing his lines over the phone and then mentioned that it took the stop-motion animators over three years to complete, while giving the crew much praise.

Jurassic World 2 arrives in theaters on June 22nd, right in the middle of the summer that's already bloated with blockbusters. Jeff Goldblum's co-star Chris Pratt is lucky enough to star in Infinity War as well, putting him in two summer 2018 hits. However, he loses when compared to Josh Brolin, who will star in 3 huge movies this summer.
