There have been no shortage of rumors for Justice League Dark, a.k.a. Dark Universe, this week. One report claimed that Colin Farrell is being eyed to play John Constantine, while yet another report claimed Ben Mendelsohn is being eyed to play the main villain, Anton Arcane. None of these details have been confirmed just yet, but now we have another rumor to throw onto the pile. JoBlo reports that Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead) and the Israeli filmmaking duo of Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado (Big Bad Wolves) are considered the directorial front runners at this point.

Warner Bros. has been searching for a director ever since Guillermo del Toro dropped out back in June. There didn't seem to be much traction on the project in the intervening months, until we reported last month that Scott Rudin came aboard to produce, with the studio hoping to get production started sometime in 2016. This new report from JoBlo claims that Warner Bros. thinks Guillermo del Toro's script is "excellent," which is why the studio is pushing to get production started next year.

Guillermo del Toro revealed last year that his script will include DC Comics characters such as John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Shade, Madame Xanadu, Etrigan The Demon and Zatanna. Aside from Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor is being considered to play John Constantine. The report claims that whichever actor doesn't land that role, could be cast as Jason Blood, the human version of Etrigan the Demon. Monica Bellucci is reportedly the top choice to play Madame Xanadu, and Ron Perlman is reportedly being eyed to play Swamp Thing.

JoBlo's report also corroborates the previous rumor that Warner Bros. is looking for comedic actor to play Deadman, while they also want a young up and coming actress to play Zantanna. It isn't known who the studio is considering for Shade at this time, but if a decision is made on the director soon, hopefully more casting details will come to light. The studio has yet to announce a release date for Justice League Dark quite yet.

Fede Alvarez made his feature directorial debut with 2013's Evil Dead remake, which he will follow up with A Man in the Dark. That film is currently in post-production and stars Dylan Minnette, Jane Levy and Stephen Lang. Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado made their directorial debut with Rabies, which they followed up with Big Bad Wolves. They also directed a segment of the horror anthology ABCs of Death 2. Which of these filmmakers do you think is right for Justice League Dark?
