Despite the perceived problems facing the DC Extended Universe at this point, one thing these movies have not had an issue with is casting. They've hauled in big names like Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and the list goes on. It looks like that very impressive list might be getting longer, as comedy legend John Cleese just might be joining up with the DCEU starting with Justice League.

Don't get your hopes up quite yet, but there is some, and we do mean only some, evidence that the Monty Python actor is circling a DC movie for Warner Bros. As Twitter user Dennis Lamb pointed out, both the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice account, and DC Photographer Clay Enos both followed John Cleese recently. That may not seem like much on paper, but it is more of an indicator than you may think.

True Blood star Joe Manganiello recently landed the role of Deathstroke, who will be the main villain in Ben Affleck's The Batman. His name had been thrown around for a long time for the part, but shortly before the announcement was made, some similar Twitter activity occurred when he was followed by some DC related accounts. Why else would the Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice Twitter account follow John Cleese unless Warner Bros. is at least considering him for a part in a DCEU movie?

As for what part he could be up for? The door is wide open on that one. Warner Bros. has a ton of DC Comics related projects coming down the pipe. Not only that, but Zack Snyder is still shooting Justice League and there will surely be cameos setting up characters for future movies, so maybe John Cleese is filming a little tease to a larger role in the future. Or it could be something as simple as a cameo role. No matter what, having someone as legendary as John Cleese in a DCEU movie would be a pretty big deal and would definitely help elevate whatever movie he shows up in.

Director Patty Jenkins has the next movie up in the DCEU with Wonder Woman on June 2, 2017. Though that is done filming, reshoots are happening, so the odds of John Cleese showing up there are slim to one. Following that will be Justice League on November 17, 2017. Also on the way is The Flash on March 16, 2018, Aquaman on July 27, 2018, Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019, Cyborg on April 3, 2020, Green Lantern Corps. on July 24, 2020 and some other movies in development without release dates yet.
