Fans who pick up the animated superhero adventure Batman Vs. Robin on Blu-ray and DVD April 14 will get a sneak peek of the next DC Universe Original Movie, Justice League: Gods and Monsters, which doesn't have a release date set at this time. Before that sneak peek debuts, the first trailer has arrived via YouTube user Aakash Jain, which teases a much darker Justice League than we have seen in the past. The official voice cast has not been released yet, but stay tuned for more details as soon as they become available.

We also have new plot details from Nerds On the Rocks, which reveals that Justice League: Gods and Monsters centers on the Justice League "trinity" of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman being framed for the murders of comic book characters such as Ray Palmer, Victor Fries and Silas Stone. Take a look at the brief plot description below.

"The movie centers around the murder of prominent DC Universe scientists like Ray Palmer, Victor Fries, Silas Stone and others that the Justice League is being framed for. They attempt to investigate these murders while dealing with mounting pressures from outside sources."

The site also reveals that this version of Superman is actually the son of General Zod, and he is a lot more violent than other versions of the Man of Steel. Batman is not Bruce Wayne in Justice League: Gods and Monsters, but instead Kirk Langstrom, who is trying to develop a cure for his cancer by injecting himself with a "bat-venom" that turns him into a vampire, of sorts. Wonder Woman is one of the New Gods, who has married Orion but then comes to Earth after something goes wrong. Lex Luthor is seen as the Stephen Hawking of this world, and Darkseid is also featured in the movie as well. Take a look at the trailer below, and stay tuned for more details on Justice League: Gods and Monsters.
