Earlier this year, Warner Bros. shot down rumors that Justice League was being delayed and Zack Snyder was being removed as director. Instead, they announced a production start on April 11 at Pinewood Studios in the U.K. In the nearly three months since production kicked off, Warner Bros. has remained relatively quiet about the movie. Though they have revealed an official synopsis, a full cast list was never announced. Perhaps it's because the ensemble is still being finalized. A new rumor sparked over the 4th of July holiday, claiming that Colin Farrell and Game of Thrones star Michiel Huisman are in talks for unspecified roles.
The news comes from a Russian Twitter user dubbed "CutTheCrapTV" who claims that both Colin Farrell and Michiel Huisman are in negotiations to join the superhero adaptation. Of course, there is no word about who they may be playing, or confirmation from the studio that they are even in talks for this project. We do however have verified news that Welsh actor Julian Lewis Jones has in fact signed on for a mystery role. Here's what the actor had to say about his casting in a recent interview.
"I'm not allowed to say yet what part I play but let's just say I've a role in what will likely be the most expensive film ever made. Directed by Zack Snyder it stars Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons and host of A-list actors. I'm just happy to have been involved and I'm looking forward to the movie's release which will be next year."
It's worth noting that back in November, Colin Farrell was rumored to play John Constantine in Justice League: Dark, which has never been confirmed. If Michiel Huisman does come aboard, it would mark his first ever role in a superhero movie, although he did star in the 2013 graphic novel adaptation World War Z. It remains to be seen when, or if, these two actors will be confirmed as part of the cast.
Regardless of who they're playing, these potential new cast members will join Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Amy Adams also returns as Lois Lane, with J.K. Simmons coming aboard to play Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe set to play an Atlantean ally of Auqaman named Nuidis Vulko. It isn't known when production is scheduled to wrap on Justice League, which has been set for release on November 17, 2017, under the direction of Zack Snyder.
Colin Farrell most recently starred in the indie movie The Lobster, and he will next be seen this fall in Warner Bros.' highly-anticipated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Michiel Huisman has three upcoming movies in post-production, The Ottoman Lieutenant, American Dream and 2:22, and his character Daario Naharis is expected to return in Season 7 of Game of Thrones. Julian Lewis Jones will next be seen in The Head Hunter and his credits also include Invictus and Zero Dark Thirty.
