Justice League officially began shooting last week, as director Zack Snyder finally finished his press rounds for the theatrical release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Today, we have word from THR that iconic actor Willem Dafoe has joined the project. Though, at this time, DC Comics and Warner Bros. are keeping his key role under wraps.

The immediate thought was that Dafoe will play one of the main villains in the movie. There has been no confirmation on whom the Justice League will square off against next November. But there have been constant rumors that both Darkseid and Brianiac will show up. Is Willem Dafoe playing one of these iconic DC villains? Nope. According to this new report, Dafoe is playing one of the good guys in a role that has him appearing in both Justice League movies. There's no guess who that may be at this time.

Justice League Part 1 reunites the Dawn of Justice cast, with Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), the Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) back together for another action-packed adventure. At this time, there are no plot details to report. The movie will revolve around this team, brought together by Bruce Wayne, as they gear up to fight the biggest threat the world has ever seen. Each superhero will be able to use their distinct powers to help win the battle.

Darkseid was heavily teased in Batman V Superman, which makes him the likely bad guy in Justice League. Dawn of Justice writer Chris Terrio is back to pen the script for Part 1. The movie hits theaters November 17, 2017. Part 2 isn't in theaters until June 14, 2019. There was a rumor that both movies were shooting back-to-back. But that's not true. Back in March, J.K. Simmons joined the cast as Gotham City Police Commissioner Gordon. No other casting has been announced.

Willem Dafoe is no stranger to comic book movies. Or the villains that inhabit them. He famously played Green Goblin in director Sam Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man. This time out, it sounds like he will be helping Batman and his super friends out of a jam. The character will not be revealed until a much later date. Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder all return to produce Justice League. Suicide Squad is the next DCEU movie to arrive, coming this August. It will be followed by Wonder Woman in June, 2017.
