With just over six months left until Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters, fans are already excited about the new DC Comics movie universe it will spawn. Aside from stand alone superhero movies like Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman, there are some that are even looking past those movies, to Justice League and Justice League Part 2, set for release in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Today, Birth.Movies.Death has a new report which reveals who the rumored villain for Justice League is. There will be potential SPOILERS below, so read on at your own risk.

The site claims that "every whisper" they hear about Justice League includes the iconic villain Brainiac. This news comes just one day after another report claimed that Brainiac, Bizarro and Supergirl will all be a part of Man of Steel 2. However, this latest report claims that plans for Brainiac, Bizarro and Supergirl have likely been discarded. Warner Bros. probably wouldn't have let the upcoming Supergirl TV series move forward if they had major plans for that character in the movie universe. You may recall that Arrow star Willa Holland revealed the series had plans for Harley Quinn, before the studio shut them down, because of the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. The show also had its own version of the squad itself, but that got shut down as well.

This report also reiterates a longtime rumor that the "main physical threat" in Batman v Superman will be a cross between Bizarro and Doomsday. The site claims that Lex Luthor creates Doomsday after experimenting with the genes from General Zod's corpse. In the comics, Bizarro was also created by Luthor, who was trying to clone Superman, while Doomsday "was the result of mad science.' None of this has been confirmed quite yet, and it seems unlikely that we'll get any official confirmation before the movie hits theaters.

In the comics, Brainiac is an android, believed to be one of the most intelligent beings, human or otherwise, on the face of the Earth. His abilities include telekinesis and control over all forms of technology, along with the ability to produce force fields. In several of his comic book arcs Brainiac moves from planet to planet, assimilating, capturing, or simply destroying entire civilizations.

It isn't known if there will be any references to Brainiac in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, to set up his appearance in the Justice League movies. It's possible that the studio could try to mirror Marvel's set-up of Thanos, showing him briefly in a handful of movies before what will surely be a massive battle in Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Avengers: Infinity War - Part II. Do you think Brainiac should be the Justice League villain?
