Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine will star in I Saw the TV Glow, a new horror feature from A24 and Fruit Tree. The logline for the project sees two teenage outcasts, played by Smith and Lundy-Paine, who bond over a shared love for a scary television show. However, the boundary between TV and reality starts to blur after the show is mysteriously canceled.

Smith was one of the stars of Jurassic World: Dominion, the latest entry in the long-running franchise that’s been going on since 1993, or 1990, which is when Michael Crichton published the original book. Despite lackluster critical reviews, Jurassic World: Dominion grossed $984 million worldwide. Smith’s next film be starring in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves alongside Chris Pine, Hugh Grant, and Sophia Lillis.

Lundy-Paine was one of the stars of the well-received comedic drama Atypical, which you can watch all four seasons on Netflix. They were in Bill & Ted Face the Music as Billie Logan, the daughter of Ted Logan (Keanu Reeves). Besides that, they also appeared in the 2019 Oscar-nominated drama Bombshell, which starred Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, and Margot Robbie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “there is a strong musical contingent in the production with indie rock artist Lindsey Jordan (Snail Mail), musician-director Fred Durst, Haley Dahl’s Sloppy Jane (featuring Phoebe Bridgers), and King Woman also on the roll call,” and Amber Benson. She loaned her vocals to Anthony Stewart Head’s Music for Elevators alongside Hanes Marsters and Alyson Hannigan.

Helena Howard, who recently starred in The Wilds after her breakout role in Madeline’s Madeline, and Danielle Deadwyler (The Harder They Fall) will also star in the production. Additional cast members include Ian Foreman (Let the Right One In), Michael Maronna (The Adventures of Pete & Pete), Conner O’Malley (Broad City), Emma Portner (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), and Danny Tamberelli (Grand Theft Auto V).

Jane Schoenbrun, who previously made We’re All Going to the World’s Fair, will serve as both the writer and director of I Saw the TV Glow. It will be produced by Fruit Tree, the banner run by Emma Stone, the actress in such movies as La La Land, Zombieland, and Cruella (a non-land film). Stone and her Fruit Tree partners Dave McCary and Ali Herting will produce the project alongside Sarah Winshall with Smudge Films and Sam Intili.

A24 is financing and handling the worldwide release. Among their horror movie credits are The VVitch, Hereditary, X, and most recently, Bodies Bodies Bodies. They’ve branched out into a wide variety of other genres, with films such as Spring Breakers, Ex Machina, Lady Bird, and Everything Everywhere All at Once. They recently got into stop-motion with Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.

I Saw the TV Glow will mark the continued collaboration between Fruit Tree and A24. Together they’re producing the television adaptation of Stacy Willingham’s A Flicker in the Dark. They worked together on Jesse Eisenberg’s directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the World, which starred Julianne Moor and Finn Wolfhard. Stone will also star alongside Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie in A24’s The Curse for Showtime.
