Fast Five director Justin Lin has signed on to take the helm of Lone Wolf and Cub for Kamala Films.

David Webb Peoples and Janet Peoples (12 Monkeys) are adapting the Japanese manga created by Kazuo Koike in the 1970s. The story takes place in feudal Japan, and centers on a Shogun executioner who is falsely accused of a crime and is forced to wander the country with his three-year-old son, finding work as an assassin for hire. Here's what Justin Lin had to say about the husband and wife writing team of David Webb Peoples and Janet Peoples.

"I've long admired the Peoples and their enduring body of work. They're a wonderful match for Lone Wolf and Cub and I'm really looking forward to collaborating with them on this powerful, epic tale."

Kamala Films' Marissa McMahon will produce with 1212 Entertainment's Joshua Long and Elizabeth Grave. No production schedule was given for Lone Wolf and Cub.
