Karey Kirkpatrick (Over the Hedge) has signed a two-year deal with Nickelodeon Movies and MTV Films under his newly formed Blue Shirt Productions.

The partnership will focus on providing live-action family fare for Paramount Pictures labels Nickelodeon and MTV; his first movie will be the family action/comedy, Captain Abdul's Pirate School. It's based on a book by Colin McNaughton, says The Hollywood Reporter; Kirkpatrick will write and direct the film.

No production schedule has been set for Captain Abdul's Pirate School.
