Actress-singer Kate Micucci has scored a recurring role on Fox's comedy Raising Hope, which debuts this fall.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Micucci originally landed the role of the main character's cousin, Michelle, but after shooting the pilot, the character was cut. Convinced that she'd be good fit for the show, show creator Greg Garcia constructed a new character for her to play: Shelly, the owner of a baby and doggy day care center. Greg Garcia even scripted in Kate Micucci's real-life ukulele-playing talent.

Raising Hope, about an underachieving young man (Lucas Neff) who is raising an infant daughter, will air on Tuesdays starting Sept. 21. The show received a warm response from critics during its recent TCA presentation.
