Kate Winslet has escaped serious injury after an on-set accident. Recently, Winslet has been hard at work with a role in the historical drama movie Lee that's shooting in Croatia. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Winslet had a fall on the set and was hospitalized as a result, but this was fortunately a precautionary measure as the actress was not seriously injured. Her reps have confirmed that she is doing well and plans to be back on set this week to resume production.

A statement from Winslet's team read, "Kate slipped and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure required by the production. She is fine and will be filming, as planned, this week.”

In the movie, Winslet played photographer Lee Miller, the titular subject of the film. Miller, who died in 1977, is known for her work as a war correspondent for Vogue during World War II with the movie telling the story of her life. The film takes inspiration from the biography The Lives of Lee Miller by Antony Penrose, Miller's son. Liz Hannah wrote the screenplay for Lee in collaboration with the Lee Miller Archives. Ellen Kuras directs with the film also starring Marion Cotillard, Jude Law, Andrea Riseborough, and Josh O'Connor.

Kate Winslet Says Lee is Not a Biopic

Winslet has teased that Lee is much more than a typical Hollywood biopic. She has stressed how important Miller's story is to the point of being shocked that it hasn't been made into a film in the past already.

"This is absolutely not a biopic,” Winslet told Vogue about the film. “What we wanted to do was find the most interesting decade in her life. It was the period from 1938 to 1948 that took her right through the war. I’m surprised that a film has never been made about this incredible woman. She has been misunderstood and so often viewed through the lens of a man. What she did, as a female photographer on the front lines during World War II, [was educate] people on what actually happened during the war. Lee was the woman who was documenting war for women, through women’s eyes, for a women’s magazine.”

An accomplished and prolific actress, Winslet is an award-winning performer whose credits include an Oscar-winning role in The Reader. Of course, she is also very well known for her role in the movie Titanic which, at the time, set the new record for the highest-grossing movie released. More recently, Winslet appeared in an acclaimed role in Mare of Easttown, earning an Emmy for her efforts with that show. She is also set to appear in the upcoming sequel Avatar: The Way of Water, which will hit theaters on Dec. 16, 2022.
