The premiere of Star Wars Rebels season 3 is just around the corner and as excited as we already are for the show to come back after the exciting end to last season, we now have an all new reason to be amped for the return of Rebels. It turns out Katee Sackhoff will be returning to a galaxy far far away to reprise her role as Bo-Katan from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The actress recently revealed that she has already done the voice work for her character for the upcoming season, which is pretty exciting.

The news comes courtesy of Star Wars fan site Jedi News, who uncovered the report from Sci-Fi Central Australia. Apparently Katee Sackhoff let the news slip at a recent convention appearance in front of a large crowd. While it seems like something that Disney and Lucasfilm probably would have liked to reveal a little later on, the cat is out of the bag now. Either way, it is welcomed news for fans of Sackhoff, The Clone Wars and Rebels. Here is what the initial report had to say.

"She probs shouldn't have said it but the buzz of a large audience in Sydney loosened her up. Battlestar Galactica & Riddick star Katee Sackoff, and Clone Wars character Bo Katarn, confirms she has already voiced her continuing role for Star Wars Rebels.

The report from Sci Fi Central misspelled both Sackhoff's name and the name of her character, but that doesn't make the news any less exciting or any less true. During the six-season run of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Sackhoff lent her voice for Bo-Katan four different times. For those who may not have seen The Clone Wars or need a little refresher on the Mandalorian character that Sackhoff plays, here is Bo-Katan's official description from the StarWars.com.

"Confident, sardonic, and deadly. Bo-Katan was the ever-loyal Mandalorian lieutenant to Pre Vizsla, and a proud member of Death Watch. Bo-Katan rallied to Death Watch's call for Mandalorians to embrace their martial heritage and find glory in war."

Bo-Katan isn't all bad. She did help Obi-Wan Kenobi escape from Mandalore at one point and fought against Darth Maul's followers. It is tough to know how she will fit into Star Wars Rebels season 3, especially considering it will be a much older version of the character. We do know that Darth Maul will be back, so that could factor in somehow. That is all speculative, because beyond the fact that Sackhoff said she is coming back, we don't know much of anything else.

This is far from the first time that Rebels has brought back a character from The Clone Wars. During season 2 Rex and some of the other clone troopers were brought back for several episodes. Perhaps most notably was the return of Ahsoka Tano, which of course culminated in the long-time-coming epic duel between her and Darth Vader at the end of season 3. We don't know for sure if Vader will be back this season or not, but we do know that Grand Admiral Thrawn, made famous by Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy of novels in the 90s, is being brought into the new official Star Wars canon, given his inclusion in Rebels this upcoming season. Everything seems to be lining up in a big way for Star Wars fans this season.

Star Wars Rebels follows the crew of the ghost starship who do what they can to stand up against the Empire, and do their part in the early years of the formation of the Rebel Alliance. The show takes place between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. For those who need to get caught up, Rebels season 2 is out on Blu-ray and digital now. Star Wars Rebels season 3 is set to premiere on Disney XD on September 24.
