One of the hottest directors in Hollywood is about to take a look at the other side of the war in Iraq. According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow is attached to direct Held By the Taliban, a film based on the true story of kidnapped journalist David Rohde.

The film will be based on The New York Times' five-part article on Rohde, who was held captive by the Taliban for over seven months. Stephen Belber (Management) is attached to adapt the New York Times articles for the screen.

Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall are on board as producers. No production schedule was given for the film.

Now The Risky Business Blog is reporting that director Terrence Malick is interested in the film. It is also reporting that Bigelow is not officially attached to the project, so the film could go to either director.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments surrounding this project.
