WandaVision spin-off Agatha: House of Harkness will be arriving on Disney+ in Winter 2023 under the brand new title of Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Having been announced last year, the series starring Kathryn Hahn’s popular Marvel villain is still shrouded in mystery as far as its plot and purpose in the MCU is concerned but thanks to the massive reveals of Kevin Feige and his team at San Diego Comic-Con we now know exactly when we will see the Westview witch back on screens.

Kathryn Hahn became an instant when she made her debut as an innocent nosey neighbour in Wanda Maximoff’s fabricated reality although her intentions turned out to be more sinister in the final episodes of the show as she attempted to steal Wanda’s powers for herself. Instead, she ended up helping Wanda unleash her full potential as Scarlet Witch and was last seen being trapped in a mundane life by Wanda as she left her fake reality behind and headed off to be part of Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness.

Now, after keeping tight-lipped on the spin-off since October 2021, Marvel’s SDCC panel has revealed Agatha will return as part of the Phase 5 line up of movies and Disney+ TV shows in late 2023. Of course, there are still no new details available about the content of the show, but it is believed to be a prequel series, delving back into the past of the character before she came to Westview. However the new title of Coven of Chaos could work into this theory, or could indicate Agatha attempting to harness chaos magic somehow after WandaVision.

San Diego Comic-Con saw Marvel Studios deliver a barnstorming panel that stole the show and not only revealed new looks at this year’s upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and next year’s Ant-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy sequels, but also laid out the roadmap of Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU. With so many projects being revealed, Agatha: Coven of Chaos was only mentioned briefly when it was revealed as a Winter 2023 release towards the end of Phase 5.

The early part of Phase 5 was already known prior to the event, containing movies including The Marvels and Disney+ series Secret Invasion. However, the rest of the phase has now been fleshed out to include the return of Loki for his second season, the arrival of Blade, a new Daredevil series, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America debut and the Thunderbolts, which will round of the phase. With so many big-name characters in the phase, it is not surprising for the Agatha Harkness series to not get the most attention, but that doesn’t mean Marvel will not deliver the goods when the time comes.

With a lot of information to take from the SDCC panel, fans will have plenty to paw over in the next few days, and with a number of Comic-Con exclusive trailers and clips being shown for Marvel’s upcoming slate set to arrive in the next month or so, the gripes around the MCU’s Phase 4 will very soon be a thing of the past.
