Fans of Keanu ReevesConstantine were surprised last year when a sequel to his 2005 DC movie was finally announced. After years of asking for another appearance by Reeves as the comic book demonologist, and several other actors having played the role in other projects, the Constantine 2 announcement came out of nowhere. However, one person who is certainly happy to see the movie get the green light is star Keanu Reeves, who recently told Total Film that it is something he has lobbied for constantly. He said:

"I don't know if it was unfinished business but it was definitely a role that I loved, and I thought that Francis Lawrence, the director, did such amazing work. I loved playing that character, and I really enjoyed the film. I was like, [adopts Oliver Twist voice] 'Can I please have some more? ... I kept asking almost every year. I'd be like, 'Can I please?' [and] they'd be like, 'No, no!' So it's exciting. It's almost like an open playground that we can hopefully cook something up and play in, and I guess get out of the playground and prepare a meal, but I'm looking forward to it, and hopefully it can happen. You don't know how these things go. But I'm definitely going to try my darndest to try and realize that dream."

Among the many characters Reeves has played over the years, Constantine is one that many fans have really wanted to see him return to again. However, many felt the same way about The Matrix Resurrections, and that didn’t really turn out as many wanted. Hopefully, Reeves’ Constantine return can avoid that kind of belated sequel curse.

While Constantine 2 is now on the cards, Reeves fans are currently looking forward to his upcoming return as John Wick in the fourth movie in the action franchise. A new look at the movie was released last week, and fans are now eagerly waiting for the movie to arrive in cinemas in March.

The latest instalment in the popular franchise will see Reeves’ assassin pitted against more of his peers than ever before, and comes with a healthy mix of familiar cast returns and new players to the game. The likes of Ian McShane, Laurence Fishburne and Lance Reddick are joined by Donnie Yen and Bill Skarsgård as the franchise looks to deliver on the promise of the third movie, while setting up both its direct sequel and more potential spin-offs.

The franchise is already seeing the movie Ballerina heading to cinemas with Ana de Armas in the lead role, and additionally the “event series” of The Continental will also be arriving soon and will delve further into this history and mythos of the franchise and its focal setting of The Continental hotel. It seems that for fans of the violent movie series, there is still a lot more to come from the world of John Wick and that is something that everyone seems to agree is a good thing.
