Hollywood treasure Keanu Reeves has confirmed that meetings between himself and Marvel have indeed taken place, with the actor describing Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige as a “cool cat.” A phrase that is arguably peak Keanu Reeves. While The Matrix Resurrections star sadly revealed that he does not currently have anything in development with Marvel, he does again assert his eagerness over one day joining the hugely popular franchise.

"We haven't yet. We have met, and [Kevin Feige]'s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don't have anything, got to find something."

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Keanu Reeves, who is, of course, no stranger to comic book movie roles thanks to the likes of 2005’s Constantine, certainly sounds more than willing to join the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe should the right role present itself. Rumors, speculation, and a simple desire from fans to see Reeves join the MCU has been circulating for some time, with suggestions such as Ghost Rider, The Silver Surfer, and Namor the Sub-Mariner often top the casting wish list.

This is not the first time that Keanu Reeves has discussed the possibility of joining the MCU, with the beloved action star describing it as an “honor” to even be considered. "Isn't it bigger than a universe? It's almost like a Multiverse. It's a Marvel-verse,” the actor said back in November. “It would be an honor. There's some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they're doing something that no one's really ever done. It's special in that sense, in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it would be cool to be a part of that."

More recently, Reeves was asked which character he would like to play, and while he did not have an answer, it is clearly something that he would love to do eventually. "Oh my gosh, I don't know! I actually don't have an answer,” Reeves said. “There's so many wonderful films and filmmakers and artists participating in those films. It would be fun to be a part of."

This is not even the first time that we have heard about meetings between the John Wick star and Marvel, as Kevin Feige himself revealed in June 2019 that they have meetings with Reeves as often as possible. "We talk to him for almost every film we make... We talk to Keanu Reeves about... I don't know when, if, or ever he'll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it," Feige explained. With both Marvel and Keanu Reeves desperate to join forces, surely it is only a matter of time before the actor shares the screen with the likes of Spider-Man and Doctor Strange?

For now, Keanu Reeves is plenty busy right now, bringing back the sci-fi superhero Neo for The Matrix Resurrections. Picking up decades after the events of the original trilogy, The Matrix Resurrections finds Neo living an ordinary life under his original identity as Thomas A. Anderson. Haunted by dreams of his past, a new version of Morpheus will once again open his mind to the truth, offering him the red pill and asking The One to join a group of rebels in a fight against a new enemy.

The Matrix Resurrections is out now.
